About Me
I’m a LCSW practitioner with licenses in New York, New Jersey and Florida and have been practicing psychotherapy for over thirty years.
I received my MSW from Columbia University and completed post-graduate studies at NYU. I also had the good fortune to receive extensive training in EMDR from it’s originator, Francine Shapiro, and have been using that modality as a Certified Trauma Specialist for the past twenty-five years.
I was a music major in college and performed professionally prior to completing my studies at Columbia and beginning my therapy practice. I believe that the discipline required to study and perform music deepened my understanding of patients who struggle with commitment obstacles and performance anxiety.
Throughout my early youth, through college and into my adult life, I was a baseball player, and continued my passion for the sport as I coached baseball teams for seventeen years, during the early stages of my psychotherapy practice. Those years of playing ball and coaching helped develop my deep sensitivity to the issues of performance anxiety and injury recovery. This direct experience, combined with professional training has made it possible to successfully treat many athletes in my practice.
I conduct a large part of my practice via telehealth using a HIPAA compliant program. In addition to psychotherapy patients, I also provide clinical supervision.
My clinical experience includes treatment for depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma and addiction. I work with adults, children and adolescents.
I’m a certified trauma specialist and have been utilizing EMDR for over 25 years. Much of my practice has been devoted to treating trauma victims. In addition, I use exploratory therapy techniques including but not limited to hypnotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
